Meetup.com is one of my favorite websites. What is lets you do is find meetups about your topic of interest in your local area, I regularly attend Internet Business and Web Design meetups in my city organized through Meetup.com. What is great about it is that it makes networking extremely easy, you can meet tens of people interested in the same things as you who you can bounce ideas off, propose joint ventures to or simply socialize with. If there is not yet a meetup group about your topic of interest in your local area you can create the meetup group yourself. Following is a screenshot of the Meetup.com interface –

The screenshot above is the feedback screen from the previous meetup. As you can see, the members rated it 4.5/5 and the feedback was good. I too rated it highly. 27 people from various backgrounds attended that meetup; some are entrepreneurs, some are employees, some offer services and some are just looking to learn. You might even meet some big names in your industry, such as Yaro Starak and Alborz Fallah, both owners of successful websites. Following is some photos from that meetup –
