When people think of advertising they usually think of PPC, more specifically Google Adwords. While Adwords is great, it is not the only profitable form of advertising – if you limit yourself to Adwords you are limiting your profit. Once I have a profitable campaign up and running I like to expand into other PPC companies and other advertising mediums, and popups is one of those mediums.

If you have not used popups before you might think it is untargeted advertising – it isn’t. Zango Ad Services for example lets advertisers bid on keywords, just like Adwords does, and when a consumer does a search on a search engine for your target keyword your website will pop up in a new window.

What’s great about popup advertising is that it’s dirt cheap. While Adwords will charge me $1.00 CPC on a campaign, Zango will charge me $0.05 per popup for the same campaign. Zango tends to cost from $0.02 to $0.20 per popup, depending if your competitors are bidding on the same keywords as you.

Popup advertising is a bit hit-and-miss for me, for some campaigns it can bring 1000% ROI but for others it can bring negative ROI, it seems to vary a lot between industries. Even so, if you are profiting from PPC you should also try popup advertising, it is easy money.

Meetup.com is one of my favorite websites. What is lets you do is find meetups about your topic of interest in your local area, I regularly attend Internet Business and Web Design meetups in my city organized through Meetup.com. What is great about it is that it makes networking extremely easy, you can meet tens of people interested in the same things as you who you can bounce ideas off, propose joint ventures to or simply socialize with. If there is not yet a meetup group about your topic of interest in your local area you can create the meetup group yourself. Following is a screenshot of the Meetup.com interface –

The screenshot above is the feedback screen from the previous meetup. As you can see, the members rated it 4.5/5 and the feedback was good. I too rated it highly. 27 people from various backgrounds attended that meetup; some are entrepreneurs, some are employees, some offer services and some are just looking to learn. You might even meet some big names in your industry, such as Yaro Starak and Alborz Fallah, both owners of successful websites. Following is some photos from that meetup –

The venue: empty.

The venue: full up.

Yaro Starak and Alborz Fallah

I recommend Meetup.com to everybody, not only for the great networking opportunities it provides but also because it’s good fun. If any readers are in Brisbane, Australia please do come to a meetup some time.

Tracking202 Pro is a software made to track your ROI on advertising in great detail, such as ad network ROI and keyword-by-keyword ROI.

Recent Conversions: See your most recent conversions. See the landing page it was on, the ad campaign that brought the lead, the keyword, and source URL.

Pricing

Pricing depends on the amount of clicks you are tracking each month. For 5000 clicks it costs $90 per month, for 100,000 clicks it costs $470 per month. This may seem expensive, but if you are in a lucrative niche the software may only have to help you to increase sales by ~1% to pay for itself. If you are in a lucrative niche it is an investment. Read more on their website.

Competition

Since the software was released just this week they are holding a referral competition. You can enter the competition by blogging about the competition and their product. There are some big prizes including laptops, ad vouchers, an iPod, a Kindle, a camera, and a book.
